VIDEO: Highway 84 gas station robbed
A Hinesville convenience store was robbed the afternoon of Jan. 28, in the 1200 block of West Oglethorpe Highway shortly after 12:30 p.m.
According to Hinesville Police Chief, Lloyd Slater, the suspect entered the store and walked around before going behind the counter into a back room with a weapon. the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect fired 2 shots hitting and shattering the glass on a Coke machine located near the entrance of the store.  Also damaged was the front door but authorities are not sure if gunfire caused the glass to shatter. The clerk was not injured but was later treated for having difficulty breathing, 
Hinesville Police as well as the Liberty Sheriff's Office K-9 unit searched the area for the suspect who ran through a mobile home park behind the business into a nearby apartment complex on Darsey road.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect. Slater said anyone who has information on the robbery are asked to call the Hinesville Police Department at 368-8211.
