The City of Walthourville hosted its Martin Luther King Jr. Coloring Contest for Liberty County students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The contest was spearheaded by Councilmember Patrick Underwood and encouraged students to creatively honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
During the January 27 city council meeting, Council member Underwood announced the contest winners. Two students were selected in each placement category — first, second, and third place —recognizing outstanding submissions across grade levels.
The mayor and council congratulate all of the winners and extend their sincere appreciation to every student who participated in this year’s contest. All gift cards awarded were privately donated.
First place winners each received a $75 gift card. They were Nikayla Seay and Chrishaun Asuncions.
Second place winners each received a $50 gift card. They were Zara Myrick and Ka’leah English.
Third place winners each received a $25 gift card. They were Michael Johnson and Murudeen Latifu.
