Long County Blue Tide Mario Kart 8 Deluxe team Wave Drifters got their first win of the season on Thursday, October 8 as they took on the Swainsboro Tigers and won the set 2-0.

The Drifters jumped out to an early lead in the first set as they finished first, second and fourth in the first race of the six-race set and led 25-14. Aiden Gutierrez took first and Marcus Walker took second in the race.

The Drifters finished first, second, third, and fourth in the second race with Jacob Beauchamp leading the pack. They held a 54-24 lead after two races.

Walker proceeded to finish first once and second twice over the next four races with the Drifters taking a 129-105 victory in the first set.

The second set started a little shaky for the Drifters as the Tigers jumped out to a 41-37 lead after two races. This was in spite of Walker finishing first in both races.

However, Walker’s second-place finish, Felicia Manuel’s third-place and Gutierrez’s fourth place in the third race put them ahead 59-58.

Manuel finished second, Walker finished third and Frederick Moore finished fourth in the fourth race as the Drifters increased their lead to 82-74.

Walker finished second and third in the final two races as the Drifters took a 121-113 victory over the Tigers to win the set and the match 2-0.

Walker finished the day with three first-place finishes and six second-place finishes to lead the Drifters. They are now 1-2 on the season and will be back in action on Thursday, October 15.
