A Hinesville woman ended 2018 on a down note when she accidentally drove her vehicle into the apartment she was renting and getting ready to vacate.
According to Hinesville Police Traffic Accident Investigator Charles Banach, the woman was attempting to back out her Toyota Corolla when she accidentally placed the vehicle in drive and pressed the gas pedal driving through the wall of her apartment into her living room around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Banach said the woman was not injured in the accident. However, damage to the apartment and her vehicle appeared to be significant and was being evaluated.
The vehicle was pulled out of the apartment by a local tow truck operator. No charges will be filed and the damages should be handled by the woman’s insurance company. A property manager who was on scene said the woman was in the process of vacating the apartment.
