Youth health summit set for June 23
Event to feature classes for youth, parents, educators

The Save a Life Youth Health Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23 at the Richmond Hill Teen Center at 185 Ball Park Road in Richmond Hill.

The Coastal Health District Adolescent Health and Youth Development (AHYD) Program, Prevention by RCC and Bryan County Family Connection are teaming up to bring the inaugural Save a Life Youth Health Summit for youth ages 10-19, parents and educators in Bryan County.

The event is free and will offer the CPR Heartsaver Certification Class and education on suicide prevention, bullying prevention and bystander intervention.

For educators, completing the suicide prevention education class will result in one clock hour for National Board of Certified Counselors continuing education credits.

Lunch will be provided and there will also be raffle prizes and other giveaways.  

Space is limited and registration is required. To register, go to gachd.org/ahyd, complete the registration form and email it to Prevention@rccsav.org or ronique.thomas@dph.ga.gov.

Motorcyclist dies following Friday evening collision

A Long County motorcyclist was killed Friday night after colliding with another vehicle.
According to Hinesville Police Department Traffic Accident Investigator Michael Rameriz, the motorcyclist was traveling west bound on West Oglethorpe Highway shortly before 6 p.m. when a GMC Yukon was making a left turn from Mattie Street onto West Oglethorpe.
The motorcyclist struck the Yukon. Medical first responders were in the process of airlifting the motorcyclist when she succumbed to her injuries.
Rameriz said the accident is currently under investigation and declined to comment whether charges are pending.
