Editor, On behalf of our nonprofit, Seven Ministries of Liberty County, I thank the community for the support of our AAU National Champion South Georgia Kings 13 and under boys basketball team. Winning a national title is about as big as it gets and recognizing the accomplishments of these young men was the least we could do.

Thanks to my friends and fellow elected officials for coming out: Liberty County Commission Chairman John McIver, Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas, Hinesville Mayor Pro Tem Charles Frasier, state Rep. Al Williams, NAACP President Dwight Newbould, BI Lady Tiger coach Faye Baker, Hinesville City Councilman Keith Jenkins, Jenkins Martial Arts School, the Rev. Dr. Sinclair L. Thorne, Lone Eagle Karate Dojo, attorney Craig Stafford, the Rev. Henry Frasier Sr., Derek Miller, Quality Hair Care, Edna Walthour, Best Care Home Health, city of Hinesville, CH2M HILL, Liberty County Commission, Liberty County Recreation Department, James C. Reid of the Hinesville PD, Donnie Taylor, Patty Leon of the Coastal Courier, SGK coaches Shane Smith and Richard LeCounte, SGK players, SGK founders Jessie Fleming, Donnie Woods and Leonard Hall, SGK senior advisor Tico Brown, Chris Stacy of Georgia Coastal Youth, First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Seven Ministries board.

These young men are our future, and in these trying times the fact that middle school aged boys made the news by doing something positive is a blessing.
