Editor, In June, I published an open letter to all Americans, which I will summarize now.
I expressed dismay at President Barack Obama’s support for gay marriage. The Bible is very clear on this issue:
Leviticus 20:13: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: They shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” (KJV)
Romans 1:26: “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: For even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.” 27: “And likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” (KJV)
Calling same-sex unions “marriage” goes against Scripture. Some say it is a civil-rights issue, but as a minister, I must say it is a sin issue.
Abortion is murder. Republicans — claiming to be “pro-life” — applaud the number of executions in Texas. They’ll remove the safety net that is a lifeline for millions of poor people. They don’t want babies aborted, but they sure don’t want to take care of them once they are born. Why are so many whites in this country willing to vote against their own economic interests (i.e. the Affordable Care
Act and the president’s transportation initiative)?
I think Obama is one of the finest presidents this country has known. Our troops are leaving Iraq and Afghanistan. Bin Laden is dead, and Detroit is alive — thanks to President Barack Obama!
Why are African-American Christians so willing to go along with the Democratic Party, even when their moral values are never taken into consideration in formulating the party’s platform? Many of the party’s views are too liberal for me. The party has taken the African-American vote for granted for too long. I’m really baffled that no one is willing to speak out on these issues.
