How many times have we heard someone knock at our door, saw who it was, but before we let them in we cleaned up a bit? We tried to put the skeletons in our closet or back room. Take a moment to think about what was on your mind and what your initial reaction was. First, you heard someone knock on the door. Secondly, you saw who’s at the door. Now because you saw who was at the door you decided to clean up before letting the person in.
Let’s look at a similar situation in the bible. In Revelation Chapter 3, verse 20 Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Key word “I” Jesus is at the door. What’s the door?
The entrance to your heart, your soul, the entrance to everlasting life, forgiveness, and heaven, THE DOOR TO SALVATION.
This is powerful, we all have “Jesus the Savior” knocking at our door. He is giving us the opportunity of a lifetime, if any man hear my voice, the word of God. We can hear his voice/word in the bible (The Truth). The bible says, “How can they hear the word without a preacher?” Here we must understand that a preacher is one who studies, rightly divides, lives, and tells (Preach) his word. We knock and speak at the same time, as we knock we may say, ‘Hello, anyone in there, let me in.” Now that we see that it is Jesus himself at our door, we think that we need to clean up (Skeletons) before letting him in. This is our misunderstanding, we do not have the power to clean up our mess and he knows that, which is exactly why he is here, to help us. Mark 10:24 says, “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” There is no limit to what God can do, he can fix anything.
Lastly, to sup with me and me with you expresses a relationship. This relationship requires a commitment to him and his word. Let me make it clear, Jesus is knocking at your door. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have done, he wants you to let him into your life and he will fix the situation, but you have the choice to hear his voice and let him in. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
He said ‘whosoever’ not black, white, male, female, etc. The first step out of sin is to believe what John 3:16 says. When you hear Jesus knocking and his voice is at your door, what are you going to do?? I’ll Let him in, what about you?
