Recycling is not just a method of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It’s a crucial step towards preserving our environment. When you recycle, it helps to recover energy from waste materials that are usually thrown away.
The recyclability of a material depends on its ability to reacquire the properties it had in its original state. It is an alternative to “conventional” waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. It can also prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reducing energy use, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution (from landfilling). By participating in recycling, you are directly contributing to a healthier environment for future generations.
Recycling is not only beneficial for the environment, but it’s also incredibly easy. Keep Liberty Beautiful is here to guide you through the process, making it a seamless part of your daily routine. Once you start recycling, you’ll find it straightforward and easily fit into your daily life. It’s as simple as starting with a couple of items to collect and then adding more as recycling becomes a habit. So, rest assured, it’s a convenient and stress-free process.
We have a county-operated drop-off system for recycling here in Liberty County. Using a recycling bag system for collecting and taking your recycling makes the collection process much more manageable. These bags can hang in a pantry or on cabinet knobs and are ready at a moment’s notice when you head out with your recycling. If you are interested in a set of bags, please come out to the Recycle It Fairs on Saturday, November 16. This system is designed to make recycling as easy and convenient as possible for you.
KLB every quarter provides our community an opportunity to recycle at one of the Recycle It! Fairs. This makes recycling more accessible for collecting numerous household items that cannot be dropped off at local recycling drop-off centers. At the fairs, you can simply bring your recyclable items to the designated area, and our volunteers will guide you through the process. This quarter’s fairs are scheduled for Saturday, November 16, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at two convenient locations: Liberty County Community Complex 9397 East Oglethorpe in Midway and Walthourville City Hall 222 Busbee Drive in Walthourville Here are the items we will recycle:

Recycling is a collective effort, and every contribution counts. The current recycling rate in America is 32%, and we believe we can increase that rate in Liberty County. We should all do our part by collecting items that can be recycled. Bring a few things in and see how easy it is to become a Recycler! If you have a lot of stuff stored away, visit us at one of the Recycling Fairs!
