Keep Liberty Beautiful: It takes all of us to protect the Earth
Karen Bell
Keep Liberty Beautiful Executive Director Karen Bell.

Dr. Karen Bell, Keep Liberty Beautiful.

April is Earth Month, and KLB plans to celebrate on Earth Day 2022! During April, you have a chance to renew your interest in ways to take care of our Earth. One thing you can do is plan on making a date with Keep Liberty Beautiful and over a thousand other Liberty community members on Friday, April 22, at the 16th annual Earth Day Celebration, from 3:30– 6:30 p.m. at Bryant Commons in Hinesville.

Everyone who attends has the chance to learn easy ways to change our world with our everyday personal choices. Minor lifestyle changes each day at home and at work or school can make significant long-term changes in our environment so that we have a clean and litter-free world, non-polluted waterways and groundwater, fewer landfills, and cleaner air.

You can learn about these changes at our Earth Day Celebration! It is all about environmental education that we have cleverly disguised as fun. Here is a little secret: Kids and adults all learn more and retain more information when they enjoy the learning process. Our goal is to make education about Earth-keeping happen with a lot of fun.

The assorted mix of exhibits and displays, games and crafts, and music and entertainment at this event all focus on ways that each of us can make a difference for our planet. The little everyday things that we do consistently can make an incredible difference, especially when we all start doing them. An array of activities promote ideas about water conservation, stormwater pollution, non-point source pollution, recycling and waste reduction, growing beautiful plants and food, and how litter is crippling our world.

That is precisely what will happen this year on April 22 worldwide, including Liberty County, on International Earth Day 2022!

Mark your calendars now for some environmental fun. This is an event that can actually be enjoyed by everyone in your family. It is free, and it is fun! But the best part, honestly, is that it is information that we can all use in our lives. Our planet could use a little help from all of us. Join us so we all can help protect our Earth. I would actually like for the Earth to last for a few more thousand years, wouldn’t you?
