Keep Liberty Beautiful: KLB’s beach sweep needs boat captains

Keep Liberty Beautiful

Did you know that people are incredibly willing to clean up when the cleanup is on a beach? It’s true! Keep Liberty Beautiful usually has a waiting list for our annual St. Catherine’s Island Beach Sweep, which is scheduled for September 7.

To make this event a success, we need boat captains to volunteer their time and boats to transport volunteers to St. Catherine’s Island. Boat captains can depart and return to Halfmoon Marina or Sunbury Boat Ramp, with check-in at 9 a.m. and return by 1 p.m.

As a boat captain, you’ll be providing a crucial service, and in return, KLB will pay launch fees for your boat at Halfmoon Marina. We also offer all the cleanup supplies, food, drinks, and T-shirts. Your contribution is invaluable, and we want to ensure you feel appreciated.

If you’re interested in participating or want more information, don’t hesitate to contact KLB at (912) 880-4888. You can also sign up using the link on the form: https://shorturl. at/HmEjl. For cleanup volunteers, if you have yet to be on one of our annual Beach Sweeps on St Catherine’s Island, you are in for a treat. A beach sweep means that we will be “sweeping” any trash and debris left on the beaches by beach visitors.

We often find items that may have been tossed on the mainland and end up on the beach. We usually have a high number of volunteers for this cleanup, making it a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. It is one of the most popular cleanups we do. I cannot blame volunteers for wanting to attend because if you are willing to pick up litter, why not opt to do it on a sandy white beach? Sounds lovely to me!

Since our transportation availability is what sets the seating limit, we encourage interested volunteers to register soon. The time to register is now! Our registration list fills up quickly, and we book volunteers in the order we receive their requests. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make a difference and enjoy a day at the beach. Your early registration is crucial to ensure we can accommodate everyone, so please don’t delay. You can sign up using the link on the form: https:// shorturl.at/HmEjl. You can also contact KLB by phone at (912) 880-4888 or email klcb@libertycountyga. com to register and find out more information!
