Dear Editor,
In spite of the challenges and oftentimes hardship 2024 brought our community, the Christmas season afforded each of us the opportunity to showcase our compassion, our kindness and our caring attitude for each other. Our Season of HOPE 2024 was a recipient of that kindness.
For Another Chance Outreach Ministries, Inc. (ACOM) Christmas really began in July, when ACOM received 15 brand-new pallets of clothes, household goods and educational resources. We immediately began distributing those resources throughout the community from Hinesville to Homerville. We provided educational resources to several back-to-school rallies and the Liberty County School System social services department. We increased distribution items at our fourth Saturday community outreach giveaways at the Liberty County Manna House. We realized that our community (especially those in need) could largely benefit from these resources, and we did not hesitate to distribute them.
Much of those resources were set aside for ACOM’s eighth annual Season of HOPE event. We were able to distribute food baskets, thanks to Pastor Katrina Deason and the Liberty County Manna House staff. We also distributed a large array of gifts for each registered family, thanks to the local businesses that allowed ACOM to set up holiday donation boxes in their business establishments - Elaine Boggs Realty, AnyTime Fitness, Recovery Place, Styles by Monique Chantel Beauty Salon, Crown & Glory Beauty Salon, Hinesville Spa, Diversity Health Center, and Stamped Fades Barbershop. The generosity of these business owners and their staff made a great impact upon every registered family in need, homeless family and families who had a loved one incarcerated. The holiday donation boxes placed throughout the community were brimming with contributions, which brought joy and relief to these families.
After receiving their food baskets and gift bags, each family was afforded the unique opportunity to park the vehicle and literally go shopping for free as the parking lot was filled with tables and tables overflowing with brand-new household goods and appliances, new clothes and shoes, and various other resources.
The ACOM volunteers assisted them and encouraged them to pick up whatever they wanted because there was more than enough for everyone. We would like to express our appreciation to our volunteers, who provided the underlying support for all of ACOM’s community outreach events. Their volunteer hours are the foundation that ensures our events are successful. Season of HOPE 2024 served 62 families and provided gifts for 135 family members.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Bishop A.D. Shaw and the Full Gospel Tabernacle COGIC for hosting ACOM’s Season of HOPE for the past four years. Their support for the success of Season of HOPE has been immeasurable. We would like to thank the Chosen Liberty Corvette Club for arriving on site in spectacular motor vehicle style. We appreciate them coming out and speaking with family members. It left a great impact upon them.
Special thanks to our local Sonic and Chick-fil-A restaurants, Mr. Joseph Grant’s State Farm and Infinite Health Care Academy for their generous spirit of giving during ACOM’s Season of HOPE 2024.
Thanks to each of you who donated your time, resources, and contributions in various ways. You demonstrated that together we can inspire hope and unity within our community. Let’s continue to build upon the spirit of generosity and support for those in the years to come.
