Dear Editor,

I am writing because I am very disappointed and ashamed of our City and County in not providing any emergency housing for those who need it!

I thought, through my many years of working with the Kirk Healing Center, that I knew who to call to get immediate assistance.

To my dismay I have discovered that all my sources have dried up and that there is no emergency shelter or immediate help available here in Hinesville! The nearest shelter is in Savannah and not everyone can run to Savannah at a moment’s notice.

I am writing to call attention to this situation and to call for our City and County to provide an immediate remedy for it! All of the agencies I called were either not answering their phone or related to me a lengthy process involved with no promise of help at the end. We need to provide help in a timely manner for those who need it in a timely manner! It appears that all of the so-called help agencies with the high-sounding names are merely recording useless voicemails and not really earning their salaries by providing real help to those who need it!

Again, there is absolutely no real help available to anyone who needs it immediately. We need to fix this!
