Letter to the editor: ACOM grateful for those who help its mission
letter to editor new

Dear Editor,

On the backend of a government shutdown and SNAP benefits crisis, ACOM was determined to ensure that the celebration of Christmas 2025 would not be subject to a lack of hope and celebration. ACOM is grateful to be a part of a community that sees the needs of others and response to those needs. Many of the individuals and families we serve every day (either by temporary shelter, a hot and healthy meal, clothing or referrals to other community agencies) are blessed to know they are a part of a community that cares.

Seasons of HOPE 2025 served more than 70 families, which included 187 children and youth 16 years old and under. Each gift bag contained three presents per child and gift cards for the older ones. As the registered families entered the campus of Full Gospel Tabernacle COGIC (thank you Bishop AD Shaw and the FGT family) they received a food bag (thanks to the Liberty County Manna House). They were further instructed to proceed to the gift table, where the prepared gift bag was presented to the child in the vehicle. As the driver was directed toward the parking lot, they were invited to park their vehicle and get out where Santa and Mrs. Claus eagerly awaited each child and the opportunity for a picture. The families were given the unique opportunity to browse the numerous tables with brand-new household goods, arts and crafts, new clothing and shoes. Each family had the opportunity to pick two gifts from the household goods table and an unlimited clothing selection.

ACOM was extremely blessed this year, and in turn was able to bless a multitude of families. We would like to thank Pastor Katrina Deason and the Manna House volunteer staff. We once again thank our continued Donation Box sponsors: Monque Chantel Beauty Salon, AnyTime Fitness, Stamped Fades Barbershop, Elaine Boggs Realty, Hinesville Realtor Association, Diversity Health Centers, Francis Kimble Beauty Salon, Chick-fil-A and Mrs. Shannon Curry and the Sonic restaurant team. The community generosity of these local businesses and their staff made a great impact upon every registered family we served during Season of HOPE 2025.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our volunteers who provided the solid foundation for all of our events and yearlong activities. Once again, we thank Mr. B. Nice and the Chosen Liberty Corvette Club for again participating in our annual Season of HOPE event. ACOM looks forward to continuing to serve our homeless community and families in need in the new year as we enter our 10th year of service. For volunteer opportunities call us at (912) 532-1723
