Dear Editor,
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the nation and various communities came together with one focus and agenda, which was to pray. Liberty County, Georgia united with this great nationwide movement. Under the leadership of Bishop Kendall Paige, the United Ministerial Alliance (UMA) of Liberty County spearheaded efforts to sponsor our local 2026 National Day of Prayer.
This effort included partnering with the Mayor and Councilmembers of the City of Hinesville, and the Liberty County Board of Commissioners. Both civic governments provided a signed National Day of Prayer 2026 Proclamation, which was publicly presented to the UMA. The 2026 National Day of Prayer was scheduled to be held on the outside grounds of the Old Courthouse on Main Street, but it was also forecasted for rain on that day. In the early morning hours, the UMA Leadership decided to host the event on the inside. In the spirit of unity, Pastor Tony Caldwell of the Hinesville First United Methodist Church graciously opened their church doors to accommodate the event. Pastors, churches, civic government officials and citizens from all over the county gathered in one location to pray.
Several pastors of the UMA, (and a highlighted youth representative) took the opportunity to pray for every aspect of our lives, including: our national/local government, our military, our nation, our youth, and our families.
On behalf of the entire UMA, we would like to thank everyone who took a moment from their busy schedules to join us as we gathered with the sole purpose to pray. We realize that it’s in times like these that prayer is vitally essential for our nation to be healed of the ills that we are currently facing. If you, or someone that you may know of is interested in joining the UMA of Liberty County, we welcome your participation. Our monthly meetings are held every first Wednesday of the month. For more information call the UMA’s president Bishop Kendall Paige at 304-283-3795.
Blessings,
UMA of Liberty County
