Midway needs to tone down taxes
Letter to editor

Editor, The Midway City Council is at it again. This time it is taxing the residents 4 percent of their electric bill when we have the worst economy since the Great Depression. This affects not only residential bills, but also businesses, which will pass this increase onto each of us. Companies don’t pay taxes; you and I pay the taxes.
The city needs to live within its present tax revenue like its residents have to live within their paychecks — especially those on fixed incomes.
While the mayor dresses well and speaks in pleasing tones, she doesn’t produce anything. What money
she has to spend comes from Midway’s productive citizens. The mayor reminds me of a certain queen who said, “Let them eat cake.”
