I checked my pocket this morning and the only change that I could count on was two dimes and three pennies.  Forget looking in my wallet. All that I have there are two $1 bills and family photos. 
What happened to Obama’s “Change that we can count on” slogan? Did he mean that we can count on running up the national debt to $14.3 trillion? Or did he mean the $1.5 trillion deficit just in this year? Maybe he meant increasing earmarks to $15 billion, rather than reducing them to $7.8 billion as he promised. What’s a few billion among his friends?
Remember when he said, “No family making less than $250,000 will see any form of tax increase?”  He then increased the cigarette tax, but that’s OK — we want a healthier America. Oh, and speaking of health, just wait until you see the taxes from Obamacare. Starting in 2014, you will have to pay a fine through your income taxes if you don’t have health insurance. A fine? Fines are imposed by courts. He means a tax.
Obama promised transparency in government and then made deals to get his health-care bill passed. You know the one: “You have to pass it to know what’s in it.”
Do you pay a sales tax when you make a purchase? Because of the rising cost of fuel, all of our goods now cost more; therefore, you are paying more sales taxes. But that’s a state tax, not a federal tax. Does your household budget care about that distinction?
During his campaign, President Obama promised to limit the influence of special-interest groups.
“I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race,” he said.
He was right — he has taken on more lobbyists. He turned around and hired 10 of them to work for the administration. He granted waivers to certain lobbyists, such as William Lynn to be the deputy secretary of defense, although he was a lobbyist for a defense contractor. He put the wolves in charge of the chicken coop.
The president wants us all to drive energy-efficient vehicles, and he promised to convert the White House vehicle fleet to electric cars. After two years, the fleet still is not converted. If he can’t keep his promise to use energy-saving vehicles, how can he ask us to drive them?
The president campaigned on a promise to secure our borders and to crack down on employers who hire illegal aliens.  Yet, drug dealers and illegal aliens are flooding through our southern borders at a rate of more than 2,000 a day. When Arizona tried to stem the flow, Attorney General Eric Holder sued Arizona. But that’s OK — how else will we get our drugs?
Then, according to www.foxnews.com, U.S. Border Patrol officials reportedly told Cochise County, Ariz., Sheriff Larry Dever that they have been ordered to reduce arrests of illegal immigrants caught trying to cross the U.S. border in order to keep apprehension numbers down during specific reporting time periods. Does this make you feel safer?
Massive debt, increasing deficit, inflation, increased taxes, favored special interests and failed-border policies — change we can count on.
