Editor, Saturday, May 11, was the birthday of well-known Hinesville entrepreneur and philanthropist Gary W. Dodd. I’d like to thank my dear friend and Kirk Healing Center for the Homeless co-founder for all he has done for Hinesville and, especially, for the homeless men and women we serve.
Gary’s contributions to this community are well-known. As an employer, he has provided economic opportunities to so many. A supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he was named Boy Scout of the Year for this region. His efforts to support the Ronald McDonald House, local churches and community groups and to found and grow the Kirk Healing Center for the Homeless earned him the Hinesville Humanitarian of the Year award in 2011.
If you’d like to honor Gary in a meaningful way, I hope you’ll consider making a donation to the Kirk Healing Center for the Homeless in his name (P.O. Box 2485, Hinesville, GA 31310) or a donation to any of the other causes he holds dear.
Gary, my friend, my life is richer for having known you, and I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to work by your side to serve the homeless in our community.
Happy birthday, and God bless you!
— Dr. Alicia Kirk
