Falling just one game shy of bracket play, the 15U South Georgia Kings finished as the runners up in their pool at the Peach State Games held Monday and Tuesday in Augusta.

According to15U SGK coach Derrick Brooks, the tournament is sanctioned by the NCAA and only NCAA-certified coaches and teams participate.

"We are a home-based program and we pride ourselves in taking our kids in from our area and working hard," Brooks said when comparing his squad with other elite traveling teams they’ve played. "The few players we have that come from outside of this area are just to supplement our team. These guys (their opponents) are big and good and we’ve faced a couple of teams that looked like that this week. But we think our kids are just as talented. There talent is comparable with that around the nation."
