Annual Hank White golf tourney held, scholarship money awarded

The scholarship awards from the annual event have exceeded $80,000.

The annual memorial golf tournament in memory of the late Henry “Hank” White was held Aug. 1 at Cherokee Rose Country Club.

First-place team members were Clay Kicklighter, Joseph Whitaker, Joseph Whitaker and Kyle Lott, who combined to shoot 19-under.
Second-place team members were Clifford Johnson, Jack Shuman, Tracy Howard, and Carl Freeman, who shot a combined 18-under

Third-place team members were Travis Mobley, Robert Darby, Steve Moore, and Dale Rowe at 17-under.

Prizes also were awarded to:
• Dale Rowe for the longest drive on the 14th hole
• Hal Stafford for the straightest drive on the 16th hole
• Greg Bryant for the longest putt on the 18th hole
• Ricky Kennedy for closest to the pin on the seventh hole
• Dave Griffin for closest to the pin to on the 17th hole.

Time was taken to recognize the seven recipients of the 2015 scholarship awards from Bradwell Institute, Liberty County High School, First Calvary

Missionary Baptist Church and the community. The recipients had to submit an essay and letters of recommendation, which were judged by a committee to determine the winners.

The winners recognized were Mikia Frazier, who will attend Spelman College; Keyana Boone, who will attend Mercer University; Kayla Frazier, who will attend Tuskegee University; Ashley Adams, who will attend Albany State University; Rebecca Ayala, who will attend the Institute of Culinary

Education; Charlotte Norsworthy, who will attend the University of Georgia; and Ayonna James, who attends Tennessee State University. Each winner received $1,000.

The scholarship awards from the annual event have exceeded $80,000.
