Having to battle their way out of the losers bracket, the 12U Hinesville Barracudas traveling baseball team came out with a second place finish at the Sweet Onion Classic Tournament last weekend in Vidalia.

Coach Chris Bell said the boys faced a tough pitcher in their opening game, landing them in the losers bracket on a 7-5 loss.

The kids came back fighting in game two, winning 11-3. Feeding off their momentum the boys took a 13-2 win in game three, placing them back into contention to win the tournament. In the semifinals the Barracudas faced the team that gave them their loss in the opening round. Making up for the loss, the Barracudas returned the favor handily defeating the team 9-2. The win put the Barracudas into the championship game.

But that game didn’t start until 11 p.m., and the somewhat fatigued boys suffered a loss.
