The Long County High School band and choir recently competed in the Music USA National Competition and brought home two first-place trophies.

The competition in Orlando, Fla., features student musicians in the Class AA Division. In the first event, a concert band competition, the group garnered an excellent rating and won first place. Members also competed in the choir band category, earning another excellent rating and a first-place finish.

Music City National Competition President E.L. Kleinschindt only had good things to say to LCHS Principal Dr. Dolores Mallard about the students from Ludowici.

"You are to be congratulated on such fine representatives from your student body," Kleinschindt said. "It is a reflection of the support that you as the principal continue to give this valuable program."

Several of the Long County band’s middle school members recently performed at Armstrong Atlantic State University in a show that included various music styles from different cultures.

The band also performed its spring concert at the high school for community members.

The Blue Tide band is directed by Myron Grimes.
