The Blue Tide ladies took on the Glynn Academy Red Terrors this past Tuesday and lost a tough game, 58-71.
The Red Terrors jumped out to an early lead with a 7-0 run, and the Blue Tide ladies never could make up the deficit against their opponents.
Despite the loss, head coach Julie Daffron said she was pleased with the team’s effort — especially the improvement the team showed in shooting free throws.
“The girls were 17 for 23 from the line, which was a huge improvement from our last two games, she said.
Leading the team in scoring was Shanetra Quarterman, who had 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Brittany Mills added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Caela La Rochester pulled in 9 rebounds and had 2 blocked shots, while Shareka Turner added 9 rebounds and had 6 big blocks.
Daffron commented on two of her players’ performances saying, “Shanetra (Quarterman) has a great work ethic and a great attitude, and as a result of this she is proving to be a recognizable force on the team.”
The coach noted, “Brittany (Mills) worked through the night with a swollen ankle and continues to be the hardest working lady on the court. We are blessed to have her.”
The Ladies will travel to Jesup this Saturday for a rematch against Wayne County.
On Nov. 24, the Lady Tide lost a heartbreaker to the Yellow Jackets, 51-54 ,and they will be trying to even the series against them.
The game starts at 6 p.m.
