Boosters do more than cheer team on

LUDOWICI — The Long County Touchdown Club is continuing its support of the Blue Tide Football Team.
The non-profit organization feeds players on game nights, and feeds them a meal for the ride home after away games.  In addition, they help pay for uniforms for the players and offer summer camp scholarships for juniors.
The scholarship offers the junior who has the highest grade point average $300 cash to go to any football camp during the summer prior to his senior year.
The club's fundraisers include T-shirt sales, game concession sales, a chili cook-off, a golf tournament and the Shawnee McGowan Rodeo. All of the money raised goes to the football team.
In addition to this, the club also offers sponsorship signs, which are posted at the home field. The signs costs start at $250 and businesses with signs posted at Veteran's Stadium and also get advertisements in each of the programs for the home games.
Sponsorships for T-shirts the cost is $200 and each sponsor gets their company's name on the shirt and program ads.
Gold Sponsors for the team include Hinesville Home Center, Raycon Construction, Phillips and Kitchings, Trapnell, CMAD Construction Co. and Harter Recycling Center.
The officers for the 2008 are Brian Murphy, president, Eric Hadley, senior vice president, Tessa Harrison, secretary, and Joey Harrison, treasurer.
Anyone can join and there is no cost to join. You do, however, have to be willing to volunteer your time, and help with the fundraisers throughout the year.
