Bradwell girls, boys reach region title games

 The Bradwell Institute boys and girls basketball teams are playing for their respective Region 1-AAAAA championships.

The Lady Tigers will face Brunswick tonight after downing Greenbrier 41-28 on Wednesday. Destini McLemore had 12 points in the win and Ja’Nya Bush added 11.

The Bradwell girls will face Brunswick for the region championship. The Lady Pirates beat Evans 58-44 in their semifinals matchup.

The girls region championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Evans High School in Martinez.

Bradwell’s boys held off Brunswick 54-44 Thursday night at the BI gym to earn a spot in the region championship game Saturday afternoon against Evans. Jaylin Sweat led all scorers with 17 points and Chris Perry chipped in 11.

Evans topped Statesboro 58-54 Thursday at the BI gym to advance to the region championship.

The boys region championship game is set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Bradwell gym.
