Lady Tigers open hoops season 4-0

The Bradwell Institute girls basketball team is off and running to the 2022-23 season.

The Lady Tigers are 4-0 after a 47-42 win over Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) on Monday in Jacksonville.

Parris Parham scored 18 points, sinking three 3-pointers, and Taniyah Bowman added 14 points.

Bailey Gilmore had six points and 10 rebounds, and Ta’Tyana Anderson had seven points. Ja’Nya Bush chalked up 11 rebounds in the win.

Bradwell posted a 65-52 win over Bulloch Academy in Statesboro on Friday, and downed Richmond Hill 49-32 Saturday.

Anderson had 22 points, and Gilmore added 10 in Saturday’s win over the Lady Wildcats. Bowman added nine points and Parham scored six.

Against the Lady Gators on Friday, four Lady Tigers finished in double figures as Bradwell was a torrid 26-of-48 from the field.

Bowman poured in 24 points, Parham posted a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Gilmore and Anderson scored 11 points each.

Anderson scored 21 points as the Lady Tigers plundered visiting McIntosh County Academy for a 71-19 season-opening win.

Anderson made 10 of 11 shots from the floor. Parham added 15 points, while the Lady Tigers got seven points each from Bowman and Jamia Ousley. Gilmore and Alysia Estrada each added six points, Bush had five and Zaria Boyce had four points.

The Tigers boys improved to 2-0 with a 65-47 win over Richmond Hill on Saturday.

Elyjah Thurmon had 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the way. Tahshaun Frasier had 10 points to go with seven assists and Ja’Mar Price added 10 points and five assists. Christopher Perry chipped in eight points.

The Bradwell boys broke open their opener with MCA with a dominating third quarter, coasting to an 81-43 win.

The Tigers outscored the Bucs 25-6 in the third quarter.

Thurmon’s double-double led the way, as the junior had 23 points and 12 rebounds. Perry had 14 points, Rishard Money added 11 and Price chipped in 11. Frasier scored nine points, Jamal Jackson had eight, Jaylen Greer scored four and Joshua Baker added two.

The Tigers boys are off until November 29, when they host Camden County.

The Lady Tigers, who played in a Thanksgiving tournament in Jacksonville, are back in action December 6 at Glynn Academy.
