Bradwell takes Ware County; Liberty downed by Glynn

Bradwell Institute played a non-region game against Ware County High School this past Friday where the boys and girls varsity team won their respective games.

Tiger Junior Tristen Armas knocked in 12 points helping the Bradwell Institute Tiger basketball team to a 65-30 win over Ware County. Tiger Elyjah Thurmon chipped in 11 points and Jaylin Frasier contributed 10 points. Armas was 10 of 12 at the line, Frasier was a perfect 6 of 6.

In the Lady Tiger game, the girls beat Ware County 51-41. Taniyah Bowman led the team with 19 points, Kennese Madria dropped in 9, Bailey Gilmore had 8 points, including a trey shot, and Alysia Estrada chipped in 6. Madria had 10 total rebounds and one assist.

The Gators and Lady Tigers were tied at 11 at the close of the first period of action. And Ware County outscored Bradwell by six before the half. But the Lady Tigers defense kept the Gators to only 15 points the entire second half of play. 

The Tiger boys (1-1) were scheduled to play at Glynn Academy (5-1) last night. The Lady Tigers (2-0) were also set to play at Glynn (3-1) tipping off at 6 p.m.

Liberty team falls to Glynn


The Lady Panthers of Liberty County High School lost 69-34 Saturday, despite a valiant attempt by Lady Panther senior Keira Tate who scored 10 points. Sophomore Destiny Grider had 9 points and Aliyah Guilfo and Raemoni Bennett each had 4 points.

From the three-point range Grider and Camauri Jenkins were 1 0f 2 and Guilfo was 1 of 3 attempts. The Lady Panthers (0-3) were set to play Johnson High (2-0) last night in a home game. 

The Liberty boys are now 2-2 overall losing to Glynn 87-61. The boys’ individual stats had not been posted.

They faced the 2-0 Atomsmasher last night on the Region 3-AAA opener.
