Boys basketball
Perennial powerhouse Liberty County is off to a rough start so far this season.
The Panthers fell to 0-4 after a 96-52 loss to Bradwell Institute, according to MaxPreps.
Keannon Taylor and J.T. Bacon led the Panthers with nine points each. Bradwell’s stats weren’t posted.
But if Liberty’s gotten off to a slow start, the Tigers were 5-1 heading into a Tuesday night game at Long County. The Tigers, who swept Liberty this season, also have wins over Tattnall County, Beach and Woodville Tompkins. Bradwell’s only loss is to Statesboro.
The Panthers have also fallen to Glynn and Brunswick.

Girls basketball
Like their counterparts on the boys squad, the Liberty County girls are struggling early.
The Lady Panthers (0-6) have lost to BI (twice), Josey, Cross Creek, Glynn Academy and Brunswick so far in 2017.
Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers are 5-1 so far this season. In addition to wins over Liberty, the Lady Tigers have victories overWoodville-Tompkins, Statesboro and Tattnall County. Bradwell’s only loss was a 50-48 nailbiter to seemingly forever state girls power Beach on Nov. 18 in the Joe Greene Tournament.
