Bradwell Institute will have a state champion as its next head football coach.
The school has hired John Adams, who led Cedar Grove to two Class AAA state football titles, to lead the Tigers’ football program, the Liberty County School System announced Tuesday evening.
Adams most recently was a defensive assistant at Georgia State University.
Before joining the college ranks, Adams led Cedar Grove to three straight state championship games from 2021-23, winning in 2021 and 2023. His Saints’ loss in 2022 prompted the Georgia High School Association to implement replay review in state title games.
Adams went 33-11 in three years at Cedar Grove. He was hired initially as a defensive backs coach at Cedar Grove in 2016, and played a role in the Saints’ first two state titles in 2018 and 2019.
He coached at Miller Grove and North Atlanta prior to going to Cedar Grove.
Adams played his high school football at Southwest DeKalb under the legendary Buck Godfrey, one of the winningest coaches in state history. He went on to the University of South Carolina, where he played baseball.
Adams will begin his duties at Bradwell on March 4.
