Coffee cools Bradwell softball hot streak

Hannah Rosenstrauch drove in two runs, but the Coffee Lady Trojans snapped the Bradwell Institute softball team’s winning streak with a 9-3 Region 1-AAAAA win last Wednesday.

Lexie Carson went 2-for-3 in the loss for the Lady Tigers, who fell to 4-4 on the season and 1-2 in the region. Kainani Auld added a double.

Bradwell beat Brunswick 8-6 as Leah Denmark went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Kyrstin Bernard added a solo shot. Auld went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.

That victory followed a 14-5 trouncing of Jenkins. The Lady Tigers collected 14 hits, with Carson going 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs and Denmark going 4-for-4 with a triple and a double. Auld was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Olivia Jones went 2-for-3 and Lea Martinez added a double.

 Bradwell visits Statesboro on Thursday for a region matchup and hosts Jenkins on September 19 and Coffee on September 21.

Cavs take series opener from Tide

The Long County Blue Tide baseball game into the week knowing they needed to bring their A-game if they were going to beat the Calvary Day Cavaliers. On Tuesday, April 1, they struggled to get much going at the plate as the Cavaliers pulled away late to win the series opener 10-1.
