Competition too fierce at state track meet

Bradwell’s athletes gave a valiant effort but fell short at the Class AAAAA boys track meet in Jefferson May 10-12.
High jumpers Larry Henry and Antonio Allen were the only athletes to score points for the Tigers, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
Henry cleared 6 feet-8-inches and Allen cleared 6-4.
Metro Atlanta high schools dominated the meet. Henry and Allen were the only athletes from Region 3-AAAAA to score points.
“All we can do is try to improve in the events we are participating in,” BI track coach Emmet Watkins said. “The Metro Atlanta schools run track all year, so we’re at a disadvantage.”
Other Bradwell competitors included Malachi Bell, Louis Frazier, Shaquille Russell, Deron Jordan, Richard Hobbs, Vontavious Pennyman, Keddrick Brown and Mitchell McKnight.
