Attention turns to local junior-varsity girls’ and boys’ basketball teams Saturday for the 22nd annual Donell Woods Tournament at Bradwell Institute and Snelson-Golden Middle School.
The tourney is named after Bradwell varsity girls’ basketball coach Faye Baker’s cousin, a former youth mentor and high-school coach at the former Liberty High and later Bradwell Institute. Baker said the tournament is a way to honor the memory of her cousin, who was stricken with cancer and died in his 40s.
In addition to JV action, a few ninth-grade teams will get their chances to shine during the tournament.
The tournament begins at 10 a.m.
