Region 2-AA coaches recently released the names of players who were selected to the all-region team.
This year, Long County was well-represented on the girls’ squad, with eight players making either the first or second team.
Being selected to the first team were Katie Estill, Megan Higgason, Carolin Krause and Elexxus Wrighton. Garnering second-team honors were Harley Dawson, Alexis Marrero, Jennifer Mejia and Kylee Proffitt.
The Lady Tide soccer team finished the year with a 13-4 overall record and a 10-2 mark in the region.
The team advanced to the playoffs before falling to Greater Atlanta Christian, a private school, in the Sweet 16 round. According to
MaxPreps.com, Long County ended its year ranked as the No. 8 AA team in the state.
Though the Lady Tide lost Estill and Higgason to graduation, Krause and Wrighton will be expected to increase their role on the team and provide senior leadership next year.
