Former BI tiger and current Reinhardt College men’s basketball player Will Lewis has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the week for his performances from Jan. 18-24. It marks the first time Lewis has received the weekly conference honor.

Lewis, a 6’6" senior guard/forward from Hinesville, averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 28.5 minutes while leading Reinhardt to a 3-0 record last week. Lewis went 18 of 35 from the field, including hitting six of 12 shots from the three-point range and 21 of 25 shots from the free-throw line. He was also the top scorer in all three games.

On Jan. 18 in a game against NAIA Division I Truett-McConnell College, Lewis scored 17 points. Two days later, during an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest at Union College, he garnered a season-high 27 points and 14 rebounds. In an AAC contest against Bryan College, he had 19 points and a season- and game-high four assists.

For the season, Lewis leads the Eagles with an average 16.4 points per game. He’s averaging 7.7 rebounds per game and playing about 26.9 minutes per outing. He is shooting 80.8 percent from the foul line.

As a BI Tiger, Lewis played for former Tiger coach David Jones. Lewis graduated in 2005.

Jones said Lewis is a well-rounded athlete and a good basketball player.
