Flag Football comes to Liberty

The SKILLS Mentoring & Sports Program brings NFL Flag Football to Liberty County for the first time ever.

Skills Mentoring (Shaping Kids Initial Life Lessons Successfully) began in July 2018 under the leadership of Tony Betton. The origination provides boys and girls, teens and young adults, from age 5 to 18, opportunities to learn how play on sports teams like basketball, flag football, and cheerleading.

“Not only are these kids giving opportunities to learn at an early age but some are given the opportunity to travel to different states to compete,” Betton said. “The most important thing that the organization offers is its mentoring programs where some kids receive group sessions and some get one-on-one sessions.”

The Long County Blue Tide baseball game into the week knowing they needed to bring their A-game if they were going to beat the Calvary Day Cavaliers. On Tuesday, April 1, they struggled to get much going at the plate as the Cavaliers pulled away late to win the series opener 10-1.
