Fourth quarter propels Bradwell boys in runaway win

The Bradwell Institute boys basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter for an impressive 75-47 win over Swainsboro at home Tuesday.

The homestanding Tigers outscored the visiting Tigers 25-10 in the final period. Bradwell led 35-27 at the half.

Tuesday’s win pushed the Tigers’ record to 8-1.

Bradwell picked up its seventh win with a 62-50 victory over Beach last Saturday. Jordan Stevens notched a double-double and Jaylin Sweat nearly pulled one off. Stevens had a team-high 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Sweat scored 12 points while pulling down nine boards.

Chris Perry chipped in 10 points, and Zi’on Thomas had eight points and eight rebounds. Tyon Jones added five points.

Bradwell will play in the SCCPSS Holiday Classic this weekend and heads to Brunswick for the Hoopin at the High tournament after Christmas. The Tigers will play host Jenkins on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and face Windsor Forest on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Bradwell opens the Hoopin at the High on December 27 at 5:30 p.m. against McIntosh County Academy and also will face Griffin and New Hampstead in the tourney.

The Tigers return to their home floor January 4 against Liberty County.
