Highlander Nathan Burriss slides to second during a home game Monday against Edmund Burke.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy earned its first Region 2-AA win of the season Friday by winning at Twiggs Academy, 6-5.
On Monday, the Highlanders lost to Edmund Burke, 12-1, in a non-region home game.
Friday, the Highlanders were down 5-4 in the top of the seventh inning when James Arnold started the rally with a walk.
“We eventually took the lead and held on in the bottom of the seventh for the win. We fought and clawed our way to the win,” FPCA head coach Ryan Harmon said. “We were down several times throughout the game and kept fighting back.”
FPCA’s Jared Wells threw a complete game against Twiggs, striking out eight and walking one.
Highlander K’ane Nunn went 2-of-3 with two runs scored. Dylan Stewart was 2-of-3 with two RBIs, and Isaiah Dickey was 1-of-4 with one RBI.
On Monday, FPCA struggled with fielding errors. The Spartans used proficient base-running, timely hits and capitalized on the errors to drive in runs each inning.
Highlander Kyle Hill pitched 3 1/3 innings, and Nathan Burriss pitched the final 1 2/3 in the shortened game.
K’ane Nunn and Dylan Stewart each had one hit and two walks.
FPCA, 2-2 overall and 1-0 in region play, will host David Emanuel Academy in a region game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
