Barely organized as a team last season the First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlander golf squad has turned it around, going from last in 2008 to second place in the GISA 2-A region finals at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club in Brunswick on April 24.

Highlanders Garrett Crissman, Anthony Gallob, Sunny Patel, Brandon Stafford and Jeremy Williams shot a combined 411.

Georgia Christian took the top spot in the region, shooting 398. Bethesda placed third with a 483 and fourth place went to Citizen’s Christian of Douglas with a score of 449.

Heritage Christian of Brunswick placed fifth with a 505.

Crissman and Stafford were named to the All-Region Team, making FPCA the only school with two golfers in All-Region.

The Highlanders advance to the State tournament to be held Monday at Ironwood Golf Club in Cordele.
