First Presbyterian opened its basketball season at the Faith Baptist Christian Academy Tournament over the weekend where the Highlander boys won three games.

The highlanders first took down a Faith Baptist team from Tampa, Fla., winning 62-33. AJ Ansley scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the squad.

Next, the Highlanders boys defeated Urban Christian 49-30. Leading scorer was Jordan Johnson with 14 points and three assists.

Finally, the boys defeated Shekinah Academy out of Jacksonville, 48-31. Ansley scored 16 points and had 8 rebounds. Hakeem Golden added 2 points and 16 rebounds for the Highlanders.

The highlanders head to Atlanta Friday to play Mount Vernon. The girls tip-off at 5:30 and the boys’ game will follow.
