Frederick Heaggans hit a 3-pointer from half-court at the buzzer Saturday to lift the First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlander boys’ basketball team over Furtah 66-64 in the Georgia Independent School Association quarterfinals in Stillmore.

The clash was a rematch of last year’s state-title game, from which Furtah emerged with a three-point win. Highlander coach Shane Smith said he was elated when Heaggans' shot drained the net Saturday.

“It felt great,” he said. “We waited an entire year for that revenge.”

Michael Burnett finished with 25 points, and Frederick Heaggans added 21, including the thrilling shot to seal the win.

FPCA next plays in the state semifinals against Monsignor Donovan at 4 p.m. Friday in Macon.
