FPCA hosts playoffs first round Thursday

First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s baseball team will host the first round of the state playoffs Thursday beginning at 2 p.m. on St. James Field.
The Highlanders secured the playoff spot after beating Twiggs Academy 16-1 on April 18. According to Highlander baseball coach Ryan Harmon, Highlander Nathan Burriss earned the win on the mound.

The following day, the Highlanders beat Citizens Christian Academy 18-7. Tuesday, the Highlanders defeated David Emanuel 2-0 to clinch the number two seed in Region 2-AA.

Harmon said K’Ane Nunn pitched a complete shutout. Friday, the Highlanders hosted Frederica Academy and won 10-1.
Harmon said Highlander James Arnold hit two home runs. “He hit four total this week,” the coach said.

Highlander senior pitcher Kyle Hill earned the win.
The Friday game was also senior night and the Highlanders honored Hill, Arnold and Luis Laboy before the game.

Thursday’s game will be against last year’s state runner Windsor Academy at 2 p.m. Windsor Academy is from Macon.
