The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association named Bradwell Institute senior guard Taniyah Bowman its Class AAAAA South girls player of the year.
Bowman averaged 16.5 points per game, to go with 5.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She previously was named the Region 1-AAAAA player of the year.
Bowman also was named to the Atlanta Journal Constitution Class AAAAA all state first team.
Senior teammate Bailey Gilmore was named the GACA Class AAAAA all-state team. The Vanderbilt- bound Gilmore averaged
9.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
Liberty County’s Destiny Grider and Jada Young also were named to the GACA Class AAA South all-state team. Grider averaged 10.7 and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Among the boys, Bradwell’s Elyjah Thurmon was named to the GACA Class AAAAA all-state team after finishing his junior year with 21 double-doubles. The reigning Region 1-AAAAA player of the year averaged 16.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.
Long County junior Roderick Randall was named to the Class AAA South all-state team.
