Champions: The 12U Hinesville Gators brought home a first-place trophy last weekend. The Hinesville Gators 12 and under co-ed soccer team brought home a first-place trophy after competing in the statewide Kohl’s Cup Soccer Tournament last weekend.
“They took first place in their division and competed against teams from all around Georgia,” head coach Tom Sukaratana said.
In their first victory of the tournament against the Fayette Rovers, the Gators scored two goals. The first was by Clark Sukaratana and assisted by Tyler
Causer. The second goal was by Causer with the assist coming from Sukaratana. The Gators held the Rovers scoreless for the win.
The Gators then took on the Gwinnett Rustlers and went on to a 7-0 win. Kasey Smith, Zachary Vasquez and Robert Miller each scored one goal while Causer and Stanford Graham scored two each.
The next day, the Gators continued their winning streak with a 5-1 victory. Graham, John Paul Padilla and Miller scored a goal apiece and Causer scored two.
The Gators then played for the championship trophy and had a 2-0 victory with Brooke Standards scoring on a penalty kick and Causer bringing home the final score.
Sukaratana, along with coach Kathleen Valentine, ended their fall season within the Coastal Georgia league undefeated with eight wins. The Gators only allowed six goal scored and had four victories by shutting out their opponents.
The Gators are competing this weekend in the Savannah Cup for the final tournament of the fall season. The Coastal Courier will provide the results when they become available.
