Georgia's equestrian team to have new home

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Georgia's equestrian team will soon have a new home.Athletic director Damon Evans says the Georgia athletic association has signed a contract to purchase a horse farm in Bishop, Ga., about 12 miles from the campus in Athens.Georgia riders will train and compete at the High Point Farm facility as soon as February.Georgia added equestrian as an intercollegiate varsity sport in 2001. The team has trained and competed at the Animal Science Arena on campus since 2002.High Point was the training site for the U.S. dressage team which competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.Georgia has won three national championships and five Southern Equestrian titles.Georgia didn't disclose the purchase price for the farm.
