Girls on the Run wants to organize program here

Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia’s new site registration is now open.

Girls on the Run is a physical-activity based, positive youth development (PA-PYD) program that prepares third- to eighth-grade girls for running, along with helping them develop life skills.

The program takes place in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and has operated for 20 years.
Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia is currently searching for new sites to host volunteer-led teams. Previous sites have included schools,
YMCAs, community centers and for-profit rec centers. Each site must have a volunteer liaison, be a safe space for activity and have outdoor and indoor meeting locations.

Volunteer-led teams meet twice a week for 75-90 minute practices running 5K races. Throughout the 10-week season, coaches teach girls the values of health, character and confidence. In addition, teams taken on community-service projects.
