The Boston Globe is reporting that Hinesville native and former Bradwell Tiger and Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket, Gary Guyton, has signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
Globe staff writer Mike Reiss said of all the undrafted free agents targeted by the Patriots, Guyton is arguably the highest priority signing.
Reiss reported Guyton (6-foot-1 1/2, 245 pounds) projects to inside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 alignment. He is also considered a hard hitter on special teams.
Here are some of his numbers from the NFL combine, which helped Guyton’s stock rise:
# 40-yard dash -- 4.47 (1st among LBs)
# Vertical jump -- 36.5 (1st among LBs)
# Broad jump -- 10"6'' (tied-1st among LBs)
# 3-cone drill -- 7.07, (tied-8th)
# 60-yard shuttle -- 11.57 (5th)
