Everyone reportedly had a great time at the “2007 Liberty Taekwondo Championship” on Oct. 20 in Hinesville. All participants went home with trophies and medals. Ten schools with more than 100 athletes participated in the daylong event at the Liberty County Recreation Department’s Shuman Center.
This year, LCRD Sport Taekwondo Center was awarded with more than 135 medals and trophies for their competitors whose ages ranged from 5 to 45.
Appreciation was extended to coaches Rafael Medina, Edmond Conyers and Luis Gaybort for their efforts and teaching skills.
The Sport Taekwondo Booster Club was credited with providing “an outstanding” tournament program under the direction of Medina and with a large support from Conyers.
The Booster Club organized more than 40 volunteers to staff and manage the tournament. They also provided a memorial to the service men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.
More than 40 trained referees lent their support to expediting the tournament. Thanks were given to the many clubs and instructors who participated in the tournament’s management and officiating. Credit was also given to Comcast, The Heritage Bank, All American Carpet Cleaning, Jones Osteen & Jones, Kroger, West Rehab, Liberty EMS, Over Coffee, Best Western and Liberty Inn & Suites.
