GREENVILLE, SC (05/03/2022)-- The Bob Jones University Bruins Athletic Department hosted student-athletes, family and friends for the annual awards ceremony Saturday night, April 30, 2022, as they celebrated the accomplishments from the 2021-22 academic year. Eleven awards were handed out at The Brodys highlighting individual as well as team accomplishments. Henry Blair, of Ludowici, was honored during the ceremony.
The following student-athletes received awards:
Male Student-Athlete of the Year: Henry Blair (Men's Basketball)
Henry Blair came to the Bruins this year and made an immediate impact averaging 19.6 points per game throughout the season. In addition to being named this year's Male Student-Athlete of the Year, the men's basketball captain was also named the South Region Player of the Year and was an All-American.

Female Student-Athlete of the Year: Delaney Edwards (Women's Basketball)
Delaney Edwards was named this year's Student-Athlete of the Year. She led her team in scoring and became one of only six players in program history to reach 1,000 points as a Bruin. At the end of the season, Edwards was named First Team All-Region and All-American. During the post-season, she helped her team defeat PCC to win the South Regional Tournament and advance to the national tournament.
Female Student-Athlete of the Year Nominees: Sarah Alferink (XC and T&F), Delaney Edwards (WBB), Victoria Glaze (VB), Mia Marks (WSOC)
Rookie of the Year: Camila Silva (Volleyball)
Camila Silva was a dual sport athlete participating in indoor volleyball as well as a member of the inaugural beach volleyball team. The freshman proved to be a difference maker for the volleyball team with a performance that helped her team capture their fourth consecutive national title. During the beach volleyball season, Silva played in one of the top pairings as the team saw a 6-11 record this season.

Moment of the Year: Trevor Brunson's Buzzer Beater (Men's Basketball)
The men's basketball team entered the regional tournament as the #3 seed after a tough schedule in the regular season. After defeating Southeastern in the quarterfinals, the Bruins faced #2 seeded Trinity on their home court. It was a back and forth game, and the Bruins eventually fell behind 53-52. With just one final opportunity to keep their season alive, Trevor Brunson knocked down a contested three-point shot with just seconds to go as the Bruins advanced to the region championship where they won for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
Moment of the Year Nominees: Women's Basketball defeats PCC to win region championship, Women's volleyball winning their 4th straight national title, Men's Soccer winning the national championship, Trevor Brunson's buzzer beating at the regional tournament
Comeback Player of the Year: Daniel Fuller (Men's Basketball)
After an injury last season, Daniel Fuller battled back to be able to play the final season of his college career. The captain came back strong to help his team capture the region championship and advance to the national tournament.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Caroline Hartzler (Women's Soccer)
The Scholar-Athlete Award is given to the student-athlete who has the highest GPA during their time here based on the number of credit hours earned. Senior Caroline Hartzler finished her four-year career with the women's soccer team where she made an impact on and off the pitch. She completes her academic career as a two-time Scholar-Athlete and will graduate this May with a 4.0 with 125 credit hours completed.
Heart of the Bruin: Bethany Daulton (Women's Basketball)
This year's Heart of the Bruin Award goes to Bethany Daulton as she has demonstrated a spirit of humility and service to our teammates, coaches and the BJU campus. This season, she served as one of the captains of the women's basketball team and was the secretary for the SAAC (student-athlete advisory committee).

Heart of the Bruin: Caleb Felber (Men's Soccer)
This year's Heart of the Bruin Award goes to Caleb Felber of the men's soccer team. He was a leader on and off of the field as the four-year player with the soccer team served on the SAAC for the men's soccer team. Caleb also models excellence in the classroom as he has won back-to-back Scholar-Athlete awards from the NCCAA.
