Long County cross country

The Long County Blue Tide cross country team has made significant strides over the last few years. From sending both teams to the state meet to winning region championships in the last five years, the cross country team has continued to succeed.

On Wednesday, September 7, the team hosted the Long County Region Preview II meet, its second home meet in school history. The event featured 11 girls teams and 10 boys teams from the region and both Tide teams performed well.

Out of 108 girls, freshman Macey Higgason continued her fantastic season and placed first with a time of 21:24. The team placed fourth overall.

Higgason has won several meets throughout the season and won the Tide’s first home meet back in August.

For the boys, three placed in the top 20 runners with junior Dillian Morse placing 12th, freshman Trevor Kuchar placing 17th, and sophomore Shawn Young placing 20th. The boys placed second overall.

The Tide teams will have one more opportunity to host a meet as they will host the region meet on Thursday, October 27. They will close out the regular season with meets on Thursday, October 6 at Savannah Country Day and Thursday, October 20 at Wayne County.
