Highlanders honored with all-state laurels
FPCA all state
Four members of the FPCA Highlanders state basketball championship team were named to the GIAA Class A all-state teams - Jaiden Thomas, Jordan Ortiz, Brandon Betton and Malachi Furlow. Coach Shane Smith was named coach of the year and Thomas was named player of the year.

After capturing the GIAA Class A boys state basketball championship, the First Preparatory Christian Highlanders also are dominating its postseason honors.

Senior Jaiden Thomas has been named the Class A player of the year, and coach Shane Smith was named the Class A coach of the year. Thomas averaged 23.7 points per game, and the Highlanders defeated Citizens Christian Academy for the third time this year in the Class A title game in Columbus.

Three other Highlanders also made the all-state Class A team. Sophomores Brandon Betton and Malachi Furlow were chosen, as was senior Jordan Ortiz.

Thomas and Ortiz also were chosen to the GIAA Class A/AA all-star team. All-star games were played March 8.
